Description

Join mezzo soprano Emily D'Angelo and pianist Sophia Muñoz for a programme of epic scope that explores humanity's connection to the natural world.

Canadian mezzo-soprano Emily D’Angelo is known for her eclectic repertoire, and this recital with pianist Sophia Muñoz is no exception. D’Angelo brings her ‘wondrous and powerful’ (The New York Times) voice to songs woven together by the theme of the natural world.

This is a programme of epic scope, travelling from mountains with Béla Bartók to the desert with Jeanine Tesori and gardens with Rebecca Clarke and Alma Mahler. There is Scottish-Irish folksong by Francis McPeake, and D’Angelo’s homeland is represented in music by Canadian composer Walter MacNutt. Throughout, images of nature and their musical settings symbolise human emotions and experiences: love, longing, home.
